Every American should make the trek to visit the 9/11 Memorial, in my opinion. Located in New York City, in the area where the Twin Towers used to stand, is a footprint honoring the memory of 2,977 victims who lost their lives as a result of the September 11 terrorists’ attack on our nation. Step into the plaza, a field of shade trees, where the sound of water draws you to those massive gaping footprints. Two very large reflecting pools, containing water that falls into a bottomless black hole, reside there. Edging the Memorial pools are bronze panels inscribed with the names of every person who died, lest we never forget. The Museum, located mostly underground, has been described as an “archaeological site of Ground Zero.” It truly remains a tribute to the past as well as a hope for the future.
Powerful captures…

I was there 3 years ago. It was the first time I visited NYC again after the attacks. The last time before that was September 99 exactly 2 years prior to the attacks. Standing at the monument made mixed feelings come up. It was so moving and I couldn’t visit the exhibition.

When a security guard referred to the underground area as a “living archeological site”, due to new discoveries all the time, it sent chills down my spine. ππ

So true! Would you mind if I re-blogged it on my blog tomorrow? I would, of course, attribute it to you and link back to your post. (I don’t usually re-blog. However, like you I think it is an important message.)

Hi, I wasn’t able to get it to reblog for some reason, so I posted the link, with an explanation. (Here’s what I did https://captivedreamswindow.wordpress.com/2017/08/25/a-tribute/ ) I hope you don’t mind that I wasn’t able to get the entire thing on my page.

I remember the 9/11/2001, I was trying to make chocolate chip cookies, but the news of this terrible day made me cry!! Thus; my chocolate chip cookies were never made!!

It would be quite profound and poignant. I don’t think anyone could avoid crying, Gail. I cried at JFK and the unknown soldier flame. I was in elementary school the first time, then junior high the second time. π’

I can see why. I even tear up watching parades when the marching bands go by. We lived through some tough times. π

We have lived through some hard times. I saw a meaningful but sad movie that my oldest daughter bought. It is called, “In the Valley of Elah.” It has Tommy Lee Jones and Susan Sarandan who are parents of a missing Army young soldier. It is based on the Iraq skirmishes, in 2004. It is based on a true story. I cried but it is gritty and rated R. Take care, good friend! β€

I do tear up at parades, as well as many situations. The Texas flood and those who are helping and donating make me so proud and sentimental.

I hope so. I am writing this as I am re watching some of the 9/11 videos and thought of searching wordpress for the survivors and what they have got to say. I must admit I have been a privileged citizen, never having the misfortune to witness a destruction that massive. Recently been to a ruined city, dating back to 14th century and all I was thinking about was the crumbling twin towers ruin. May none ever live to see that sight again.
