Moby Dick is about someone who’s looking
for something so huge, something they’ve
wanted all their life, yet they know
when they find it, it will kill them.”

Often people describe the book as about obessesion. That’s an element but it’s actually about cosmic dread. This is reiterated when pip falls overboard, the on deck blessing of the harpooners durinthe storm and towards the end Starbucks contemplating of following orders.
