APPLE “DEW” DUMPLINGS

Ingredients:

Two tubes crescent rolls

2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced into 8 wedges

2 cups sugar

1 cup butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 cup pecans, chopped

12 ounces Mountain Dew

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350°. Wrap each piece of apple in a crescent triangle. Arrange in a 9″x13″ glass baking dish or 10″ deep pie plate. Melt butter and sugar in a small saucepan. Bring to boil and stir until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and add vanilla extract. Pour over apple dumplings. Sprinkle with cinnamon and nuts. Without stirring, pour Mountain Dew over all. Bake for 35-45 minutes until golden brown. Do not over bake. Serve warm.

  1. Gail, after I announced I would quit writing my blog, I took a break from all things blog related but finally realized I missed my blog friends and so returned to find you had started a wonderful new series “The Joy of Eating” with this yummy-sounding recipe. I love apple dumplings and have a feeling I’ll like this recipe better than one I ripped out of a newspaper over thirty years ago. I’ll try it soon.
