“I always thought of deer as solitary
animals that weren’t very interesting.
But my goodness, that was very wrong.
The big eye-opener for me was that
they’re social. They have family groups.”

I had deer visiting my backyard a few times to feed on ivy. Unfortunately, a 6 point buck chose to die under my cedar tree. I buried him there, so I will see if his former compatriots come to visit his grave in the spring. There was some sort of parasite that killed a number of deer locally.

How tragic! That’s a pretty good-sized buck. I’m so sorry. I always enjoyed watching the deer splash and play in our creek. 🦌

Sad yes. They were calling it a zombie disease since deer seemed disoriented before dying.
